1973 15' Del Magic floor

I'm 42 yrs old and this is my first boat...ever! Bought it for $350, has a running 73 50hp Evinrude, just seems to need a few things to go out, or so I thought before reading this forum. The floor is what concerns me for now, it seems soft so i pulled back the carpet and all I see what appears to be solid fiberglass with a VERY thin sheet of plywood (maybe 1/4") nailed on top of it. My questions are: Is it truly fiberglass or is it fiberglassed over wood? Can i somehow attach a thicker piece of plywood over the fiberglass for a more solid floor? I cant seem to find any info on this brand of boat, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I know nothing about boats, but i'n a do-it-yourselfer, thanks!

start cutting it out, there is wet foam under the old floor. there are many post here, on how to do it. use the search function replacing floor. you can read for a week. here's an excellant one for starters. http://70silverline.250free.com/silverline.html

You were right! I went out and drilled a 1" hole to look in and all thats there is "mulch". So we pulled up about half the floor or more and the foam was soaked and had standing water (and not too pleasant smelling). Looks like I'll need to learn how to fiberglass.
