I recently came across a 1973 191 Mako Classic. The motor is a 1973 Evinrude V4 crossflow 90 horsepower. I got this boat for next to nothing but have yet to get my hands dirty in the restoration process. The boat was last used in 2005 and has been under a cover. There are no visible cracks in the hull but that’s the only thing I’ve looked for yet. After I make sure I can get the motor running again, (and assuming a more detailed hull inspection reveals no issues) I plan on replacing the fuel tank, all controls, steering cable, wiring and electronics. Any suggestions about awakening this motor, further hull/fiberglass inspection, or general refurbishing tips would be greatly appreciated. Or if there are any other issues or concerns I should have with this boat.
