The motor runs fairly well but the amount of smoke and oil residue is a bit perplexing. I got new gas and added Amsoil full synthetic. Seafoamed the whole motor twice thinking it might be carbon build up. Brand new plugs too and they are not fouled after running it. They look clean as out of the box. Could it be a timing issue, something else, or is this just common-place with 2 cycle engines. Just seems to be a shame if that stuff is put into a lake after use. See pics link attached for what I am seeing after a run. Thanks in advance.

They used to promote these motors in the brochure with.------------" Electronic ignition that does not need any adjustment ".

You put oil in the gas. Just exactly where do you think it goes? It doesn't disappear by some magic. Every morsel of it goes through the engine. Some of it burns (makes smoke) and the rest goes out the exhaust. On top of that, you ran Sea Foam through it. That will continue draining out the exhaust for quite some time.

One good thing, the Amsoil is supposed to biologically degrade over time, to ease your concern for the water.

Thanks F_R for the insight. As long as you say it is to be expected. It will probably lean out with use. Thanks again for your expertise.

We always welcomed the smoke as it kept the Mosquitos away. And it smelled nice, at least the OMC oil from the 1970s
