Hey all!

got a 50hp twin and wanna get it running so checked compression, good, i cleaned the carbs and replaced the starter solenoid and cranked it over, wouldn't fire, checked spark. None. So i went ahead and tested powerpack output with the coils disconnected, got a flash on both terminals. Ordered new coil kits and installed. No spark. Tested power pack output, no good on either terminal. Tried again, without changing anything , and bingo it lit up. Tried a couple times and had spark. Assembled everything, cranked and the engine fired, even ran a couple sec. Then snuffed out and would not start. No spark. Checked power pack. Nothing either cyl the first check, but then lights up consistantly with more cranking. Any ideas?

side note: i did change the rectifier due to wires being chafed and i was worried about shorting out/ water intrusion. But that shouldnt have much to do with the current situation.

It seems the spark only works a few revs after the coils are connected and then after disconnect it takes a few revs before i see spark on a test light... is it possible that the power pack is weak?
