1973 6 hp johnson thermostate

I recently got this 6 hp Johnson. I need to know if it is supposed to have a thermostat as there is not one on it right now. It seemed like it was running really cold.

Yes it is suppose to have one it is item # 22

first I noticed it was leaking water from the water jacket. When I took it off the thermostat was missing. I will buy a new thermostat.
