Have a 1973 merc 65hp , ran last year , this year no power , checked iginition , kill switch , all the basics , have power going to the switch box , but when i turn the key on i have no power to the distributor or the coil , so i order a used switch box and the same thing , is it possible the power switch box i received could be bad too or am i missing something else i can check thanks

The distributor that you have, does it have 3 wires that run from it to the powerpack?

If so...this is where the problem might be.

Its more common for the Dist (Trigger) to give out than the powerpack.

TMD

On my '71 850 85hp it was the trigger(distributor lower housing). It had intermittant spark. The part is not cheap and is not the easiest thing to change. You'll need a manual.
