Recently purchased a 1973 85hp chrysler and in the process of bringing her back to life after 5+ yrs of sitting. 150psi all 3 cylinders, good spark, motor looks good. Have the carbs off and cleaned and ready for the new carb kits. Installed new water pump and new fuel pump diaphragm. My big question is the proper routing of the fuel lines. The previous owner or mechanic has plugged off one of the lines and I can't tell where it was supposed to go. Seloc book doesnt help either. I know the one from the fuel filter goes to the carb also. The other hoses look right. Its the hose in the far right of the pic coming out of the block.

Re: 1973 85hp Chrysler fuel line routing question

The short black hose pointing toward the block does connect to the fitting on the block. It is the pulse hose for the second stage (smaller) of the fuel pump. The hose with the stainless band clamp is connected to a cheap inline plastic filter and then to the bottom carb. The fitting on the black plastic screen housing is the inlet to the first stage from the tank. First stage has an impulse hole drilled through the bypass cover so does not need a hose from the crankcase.

The black hose entering the bypass cover under the pump is the oil recirculation hose from the "puddle valve." Excess oil that collects inside the block during low speed operation is pumped by crankcase pressure to the bypass cover. The fitting has a long tube that just enters the bypass port. The oil is injected directly into the cylinder to be burned. This improves the idle.

Ok.. Looks like previous owner was way off.... So the line from gas tank connects to the black plastic filter screen fitting first. The fitting in my pic with the stainless band clamp goes to the carbs. Under the filter is a short black hose about 3" long that appears it connects to 90deg fittings coming out of the block??? (I have the lower end undone as it needs a new clamp). If all that is close I still dont know where the hose on the right hand side with the bolt in it should go.

That hose goes to nothing! It is not used and should not be there. You can remove the fitting and plug the hole with a 1/8 NPT plug or leave it plugged the way it is.

I can only guess that the previous owner tried to hook up another fuel pump at the top bypass cover behind the CD box and found there was no room
