Working on this old motor for a friend. It will start and run for a minute and then loses consistent spark on the top cylinder. I put new points and condensers in it and it started and ran like a champ for about 10 minutes and started missing again. Pull the top wire off and nothing changes. I hate to throw parts at it. Thinking of swapping out the coils and seeing if the problem follows the coil. New coils are fairly inexpensive in boat dollars at $36 for the pair. Could it have burned out a condenser in the few minutes it ran? He had it to someone who told him he had to keep resetting the points to keep it running. I thought that was silly until I tried it about 20 times now.. I'm going to pull the flywheel back off and check the timer base to see if it could be loose. Also gonna make sure the cam is down tight when I set the points. The 10 minutes it ran good, it ran perfect. I out in new plugs also. Any other advice would be deeply appreciated.

I doubt the new condenser would go but I think you need to try coil swaps or replacement as a basic ..necessary test.
