I have what I believe to be a 1973 Chrysler 6hp two stoke outboard that needs all new seals in the leg. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, CA and am having a bear of time finding parts. Does anyone have lead on anyone on either side of the border that carries Chrysler outboard parts dating back this far? The motor runs great, but has water in the gears.

You can try Franz Marine (not sure they ship to Canada?? )
The oldest I can find is 1976 6hp.
They made two different lengths, most were the shorter ones, post a pic of the lower.
It's probably the same as the 73"maybe"
What's leaking and needs repaired?
Sometimes the drive shaft gets a groove cut where the seal rides and that can be fixed with body filler also the drain plug seals can be swapped with Mercury or Mercruiser drain plug seals.
Some seals can be flipped and that helps, also shimming them up can help too??
Like I said most 76 parts will fit on the 73

The lower leg is leaking water into the gear oil and the impeller needs replaced. I think I found some Sierra parts that may work, just need to see if they ship to Canada. When you say “flip seals” do you mean turning them over? Also, what do you mean by shimming?

Chrysler became Force-----Bought by --Brunswick Corporation ( Mercury Marine)-----So your local MERCURY dealer might be able to help if you show the part numbers for the 76 model.----Failing that any bearing shop can measure seals and come up with a match.---Measure seals / housings / shafts.-----Or look up the dimensions on line to get equivalent seals

Flip turning over.
Shimming: adding metal shims to lift the seal s it rides on a different spt.

Flipping a seal: If??? you think the seals leaking and don't have a replacement then sometimes flipping it over and reinstalling, can help stop it from leaking. It works in a pinch.
The wear surface usually ends up in a new spot and can stop the leak.
Desperate measures.
