Hi guys boats been in storage for years iv got it out and put an impella in it .. I have it in a big bucket now cause I didn’t like the muffs on this motor I feel though it’s not pumping water till I drop hose off near thermostat if I then reconnect it it pumps plenty of water am I not being patient enough or am I bypassing the thermostat by releasing the hose temporarily?? Would love some feedback thx again

Is the water in your test bucket 6 / 8" above the impeller ?

It’s covering the exhaust I’ll do a measure tomorrow

Simple---- water must be 8" above the impeller.

What hose? The tell tale hose?

These don’t have a tell tale I dropped 1 of the 2 hoses on back of motor which I believe feed the thermostat

There is no factory installed tell tale on 1973 models.-----So test your overheat horn.-----A water pressure gauge or temperature gauge might be referred to SANTA Klaus.
