1973 Evinrude 50 hp issue

Hello and thank you in advance.
i am a new boat owner no not a new boat my first boat. I kinda got scammed but trying to work out the issues.. my first problem on my motor is the instant I turn on the key it blows the fuse located on the motor near the power pak. The motor won't even turn from ignition switch just blows the fuse. If I jump between the solenoid post the engine will turn and has good compression and spark. Why is it blowing the fuse the instant I turn the key switch to on not even to the start position

Look for a wire that is bare / touching ground.----At the motor / in the wiring harness / control box.

Hint--the switch sends power to the purple wires when turned on. So look for a problem with the purple wires, or the components that the purple wires go to.

Really wild guess---the overheat horn in the control box. Is it all rusted out?
