1973 mako direct sight fuel gauge

hey guys I have a 1973 22” mako center console. I’m trying to track down a replacement direct sight fuel gauge. I called mako, or whoever owns that name now, they don’t have any information on something that old. I tried a website classic mako and they don’t have anything either. My question is anybody know where I might be able to find a replacement ? Or should I try and take the old sending unit out and replace it with a newer one ?

There's nothing Mako-specific about your fuel gauge. Moeller makes both replacement direct sight gauges (with and without swing-arm senders); and a conversion kit that replaces that style with a sender that'll let you mount an electric gauge on the dash.
