Hi Guys,<br /> My situation is I purchased a 73' 402 merc, one of the blades was damaged and the previous owner cut all 3 down to attempt a repair. It's now bout 7.5" dia. Looking around I've found that they changed this range of prop in 74' to using a thrust washer, is it possible to use the newer props on my motor or am I stuck with one of those rare ones that cost a fortune to maintain. I've not put this motor to work yet, it seems to run great (after some TLC) but I'd like to have it right before I do. I am a novice boater to say the least so any help would be greatly appreciated. lakelvr

Re: 1973 merc prop

Thanks Hooty, but I live in a small town in the smokeys and we have one boat shop where, after talking w/ the guy a couple of times and he realized I wasn't able to spend a bunch of money he became short w/ me, so it looks like I'm on my own w/ this deal. I get my parts, manuals and such online (amen for ebay) and I'll be doing all my own work. Forums like this one is my only option so any advice will be greatly appreciated.
