I'm trying to find the plastic choke linkage assembly etc that mounts on the front side of carburerator that includes the Choke plate etc...also a factory service manual - all for a 1973 mercury outboard model 850 85 h.p. If you have these parts by chance or could download and email me a parts diagram I'll pay you for your cost. Thanks alot

You may look on the crowleymarine.com web site for the exploded parts diaghram. I also have a well used '73 Merc 850, so I have the parts. What happened to the set on your motor?

I think I have what you are looking for as well. Send me a PM with your contact info and I'll send you a photo of the parts I have if you're intersted.

Hi new on here and an issue with my 1973 85hp mercury. was cruising across the lake and it slowed and stalled and has not turned over since. all batteries are charged. at a loss. I am not a mechanic but any help would be appreciated.

When trying to crank the motor it will make 2 very short attempts to turn over then nothing.

Thanks...

007, you will get a better response if you start your own thread with an appropriate title.

Sounds like the motor perhaps overheated and seized? Was there any unusual sounds/noises before it quit? Put the motor in neutral and take the spark plugs out and try to turn the motor over by hand. It should turn relatively easily.

Give that a try and post back.
