1974 115 inline 6 mercury tilt shocks

what is the purpose of the shocks,and where can i get some new ones? i have manuel tilt and the make tilting that engine up very hard,i cant afford a power tilt system are these suppose to help tilting.they push in very easy but are extremely hard to extend.

shocks are to assist with lifting/lowering.<br />did you try some good marine grease on them?<br />maybe call around to a few shops and see if <br />they have some used ones. <br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
