i was on full plane and the motor just shut off like the kill switch was hit, but i could restart it and now it only stays running when the choke is pushed in and out intermittantly but very hard to keep running. I tore down the carb and cleaned out all jets, still does the same thing. Has new coils and fuel pump also, any ideas? could this be a reed valve issue?

Blockage in tank or lines. Vent issue?

Air leak? loose carb or line clamp. Intake gasket leak.

Very unlikely to be related to the reeds. I would go over your carb. again. Clean every orifice from both directions and follow with a healthy burst of compressed air. Sounds like your float valve may be sticking causing the carb. to run out of (or at least low on) fuel. If you suspect the kill switch ( I don't) you can disable it by unhooking the ground wire on it. I think it is your carb. By messing with the choke you are closing off the air supply making the mix of air/fuel much richer. That's why I'm thinking the carb. How do your plugs look? Are they wet or dry when she quits? Best of luck. Rick.

ok, i cleaned the carb again and still does the same thing. Its definately fuel related but i'm not sure what. I switched fuel tanks and still nothing,(vent was open on both). i pumped the bulb while running and didnt affect it at all. Only thing i did befor this happened was add an inline filter between the bulb and the plug but it doesnt seem to be clogged, only used the boat once since i added the filter and has a fresh tank of gas. Also it started doing this when i just filled the tank (mixed 50:1). Could it be bad gas causing this? thanks

Is the little connector spring attached between the needle and the float in the carb.? What this sounds like to me is that the needle isn't opening to allow fresh fuel replacement as your motor is burning the gas up. Rick.

yes, the little spring is connected to the needle and bowl, and it looks like there was a rebuild kit put in the carb. Everything looks very clean inside, but i will try pumping the bulb on the tank with the bowl off and see it gas comes out sufficiently. thanks rick any other ideas are greatly appreciated in the mean time

see carb adjustment in the TOP SECRET FILE. also see carb cleaning. sounds like the high speed jet is still clogged.
Ethanol and fuel lines
replace all fuel line with Alcohol resistant lines. Ethanol deteriorates, the rubber lines, then they start to sluff off on the inside, going directly to the carbs. Settling to the bottom of the bowl. Contaminating the carbs high speed jets. clean a rebuild carbs, flushing fuel line before connecting to carbs.
