1974-65hp merc

Will a lower unit from a 1974-65 hp merc-3 cyl fit on a 1975-65 hp 4 cyl ? Also can I put the power trim unit from the 3cyl on the 4 cyl? would the controls be the same?

Hi,

You have some numbers mixed up.
Merc did not make a 4 cyl 65 HP in 1975.
A 3 cyl LU will not fit a 4 cyl engine.

On another note the power trim will fit if they are both external shock engines.

thank you, the reason I asked is there is a guy on ebay that said the motor he is selling is a 4 cyl 1975- 65hp.

Hi,

The newest it could be is a 1971. They were a 3 cyl after that.
