ok guys and gals. i got a 1974 evinrude 70HP 3 cylinder that i have owned for 10 years. iv done all of the work myself on it and when i took it out the other day it stalled on me taking off. when i crank the engine up i have always had to choke it warm or not but it always fire right up when i choke it. now everytime i put in gear and go to take off it chugs lugs and dies. if i hit the electric choke while trying to take off it gets up and goes and once it going it runs good doesnt miss or anything. also if i just pull the choke out (manaul) just a small amount it will take right off. I took the carbs off all 3 and cleaned them out good and put them back on same thing. I have never rebuilt the carbs in the 10 years iv had it but i have cleaned them out once when i bought it and now this time. do you think its time to rebuild them or is there something else causing this? once you get it going it runs fine and it idles fine but it just wont take off without hitting the choke. Thanks.
