I have a 1974 Chrysler Sport Fury with the original Chrysler 75 hp outboard. Was on the water the other day and the high temperature alarm started going off. I didn't know what it was at the time, so I shut the motor down for a few minutes, couldn't figure out what the noise was so I restarted and tried to make it back to the launch which wasn't far away. after about 30 seconds it died and would not start. Now, when I try to start it, it turns over at about half the speed as it did before and it won't fire. Did I fry something? Where do I start? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A compression check as is, then one with pre mix sprayed into the cylinders via the spark plug holes to well lubricate the walls of the cylinders.
