My 1974 Evinrude 85 Does Not Seem To Be Charging. I Am Taking A Volt Reading At The Battery With A Battery Load Tester. I Am Getting 12+ Volts At The Battery At Rest But Upon Starting The Volts Continue To Read 12+, No Change In Needle. The Same Is Tru As The Rpms Are Increased. I Have Replaced The Rectifier Without Any Change, Do I Have A Bad Stator? What Terminal Can I Test For Stator Output? I Think Wiring Is Ok But Maybe A Fuse? I Thought The Rectifier Was Going To Fix It Because That Sounds Like Most Common Problem.

Your rectifier change was a good bet. It may take 10-20 minutes of running on plane to see an increase in the volts on a voltmeter, since it is reading battery voltage. If you have an older (at the end of it's life span) battery with sulfated plates, it won't take a charge properly-even if it starts the engine ok.

Measure AC voltage across the yellow pair. If you get => 30 VAC at fast idle, stator is OK.
