when I hook the battery charger to the solenoid it gets fire to both sparks good but doesn't seem to turn it over very strong and the same thing happens when I hook it up to the starter even with the charger turned up pretty good also that was with a good battery hooked up to the motor battery cables am I doing it wrong
the starter looks new I looked up the brand and model number it is a unipoint brand model STR-1067
I it apart and it looks good but I cleaned up the points even tho they didn't seem to need it but at least I got that rulled out

What points did you clean? It doesn't have points.

This just occurred to me... In your original thread I mentioned checking for spark and you replied it had good spark. If you can't get the motor to crank at least 300 rpm then its not spinning fast enough to produce a spark. Pertaining to outboards, spark refers to the firing of the spark plugs...not the spark you get by touching a jumper cable to the starter.

To start without controls pull out choke at lower left motor ?over. Hook neg jumper to clean bolt on powerhead and to battery. I like to hook pos to red starter post and then touch battery with other end to crank. That way you dont get burns all over your starter post. I forgot to mention to advance the throttle a little bit. If its gonna start, it will start that way.
