Well here's my story. In May of 09, I found this motor at a really cheap price ($50) and I couldn't pass it up. I had the guy check the compression for me and it was good, and he said the lower unit was good so I took his word. I took it to my local mechanic and he rebuilt the carb, new fuel lines, tuned it up completely with new spark plugs and it purred like a kitten. I used it all last year with relatively no problems. He said it might need a new impeller in the future, but the one on there should be good for several years. So September rolls around, and I have him winterize the motor, and I store it inside.
This year: About a month ago, I put it on my boat and sat it in a barrel of water. Started right up! I was upgrading my boat at the time so I started it up a couple times a week. I finally get my boat done, get it to the lake, and nothing. I pulled and pulled for a good 30 minutes, and it wouldn't start for the life of me. Choke was on and the primer bulb was hard as can be. It finally started, barely, and then it ran for a few seconds and died. That's the last time it started. I've taken it out again, since then, and I still can't get this thing to start! I have no idea what to do, since I'm not mechanically inclined when it comes to outboards. Anyone got any ideas??? I appreciate your time.
