1974 mercury 200 20hp will not go into gear

Last year everything was fine. Today i put her in the water and the engine started fine, I pushed the throttle foward and the engine did not go into gear. No foward or reverse. All the engine does is rev. Normally I can feel the engine shift into gear but she seems like all she has i nuetral

Check the cable back at the motor and see if its moving.

the cable is moving, the throttle and gear cable (both sides)
