I have a 1974 115hp getting no spark.

I replaced the powerpack a while back and the motor ran fine for a 1/2 summer. Then the motor died and will not restart. Seems to be the pack again. No spark.

Questions:

What caused the new powerpack to fail so soon?

I have green ooze leaking out of both charge coils on the stator. Is that normal?

Are small cracks in the ignition coils OK?

What about the green ooze from the charge coils?

Should the rectifier always be replaced first since it is a cheap part? Can it cause damage to the powerpack?

green ooze... replace stator, it's shot. Cracked coils, replace, there shot as well.
