1974 SeaKing/Chrysler info 25HP

Hi All, I just got a 1974 SeaKing 25HP that I understand was made by Chrysler. What I am trying to figure out is what Chrysler model it might cross to so that I can shop for ignition parts, an impeller, and a carb kit.

If you can tell me where you find this information I would also appreciate it - if you teach a man to fish....

Model # VWB 52025
Serial # 47x 20149

Lastly, I have seen lots of information on model # VWB 52125. Does anyone know the difference between that one and mine? It seems to have been more common.

52125 is a 75.74 Chrysler numbers are 253HA,253BA,253Hb,253BB.
Perhaps the chrysler crew can help pinpoint a model number.
There appear to be 3 different ignition systems,Magna Power,a battery ignition and and a typical magneto ignition.According to my aftermarket manual all models use a tillotson WB carb.If you check routine parts here at iboats I think you will find the same number covers most models.Ignition parts would depend on your system.

Thanks, that is a huge help. You are right, it does have a tillotson carb. It looks to be a very simple carb from the outside. I will have to dig further into the ignition. Here is a picture, maybe someone can ID it without me tearing it apart, yet. It seems pretty clean under the cover, which I am taking as a good sign.

I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to connect the 'existing' Evinrude throttle and gearshift cables that are on the boat, to this newer motor? The throttle and gearshift cables are set up for a 1959 Fastwin 18HP.
