I have an older Viking and currently have the engines and steel bedrails removed. I am questioning the integrity of the fore and aft bulkhead that the bedrails/engines rest on. While things are accessible I would like to have them checked for soundness. I inquired with the yard the vessel is stored in and they just said "hit them with a hammer and see how they feel." I would prefer someone "really" check them before I put everything back in and have an engine fall 10" into my bilge. Who would I contact to check them?
Thanks Ed

If you want a professional assesment of the bulkheads and related structure, you could hire a Marine Surveyor (Google SAMS or NAMS to find a surveyor in your area) to do the "percussion testing" and use a moisture meter and other means.
