1975 351w OMC electric shift problem...

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I was driving my boat and it went out of gear.. shut off and restarted it.. tried to put it in forward nothing put it in rev and it gos.. I have rewired the electric switch to toggle switches..

check the wiring. maybe the switches you used couldn't handle the current, or the arcing when the field collapses when you shift to N.

I found the problem!!!! it was a broken wire in the drive....
