My boss has given me the task of locating this beast NLA # 832021A5 and I wonder if anyone out there may have one or know of a place to purchase. Looks like the motor can be disassembled without to much trouble and motor parts were available at one time. I have good voltage to motor so main question is about motor disassembly. Any input or ideas on subject would be appreciated.

Motor:
If inside of motor is rust free and armature is good then parts available under evinrude power tilt 1972-1980. You can search iboats for an arco TR211 for brush cover. You will also need a new oring for reservoir, a pair of frame gaskets, a new friction washer for bottom of armature, 6ft of 12/3 round marine cable, and a set of through bolts with sealing washers. All told it's about $75 in parts.

Valve body:
check ebay. It's a bad diy project. Too many things can go wrong. Some people have identified a lawnmower part that can be used to fix it. I don't know if it stays fixed or not. New Old Stock (NOS) is often dumped on ebay and you might find a good valve body for cheap. Look for one that hasn't had a chance to dry-rot or rust.

Thanks a million, seen a lot worse inside a motor. Greased armature caps cleaned armature and wiped down reinstalled. How about fluid mine is clear and I believe it's standard Hyd oil (not automatice trans fluid)?

Going to house to reinstall motor and check operation, will get back a little later.

Thanks again
OK back and no cigar. I just can't believe it's the motor. Like an idiot it looked so good I didn't bother to check ohms before going to boat and then double insult left fluke at the shop. Just a quick question about this motor.

Am I wrong that on this unit you could touch the blue wire to positive and green to negative and test operation? Seems like reversing wires would simply run motor in the other direction? Told boss to replace relays before paying 245.00 for a new generic.By the way this only has two wire so The only way I can see it getting a ground is through the relays. How about if I ground the outer case of the motor for test and briefly pop the positive terminal on the battery? Another thing confusing me is the set of points in the motor which I cleaned with 320 emory cloth. I figured it might be a thermal breaker.

Turns out it was a 1995 motor, and in the for what its worth dept, you can test two wire motor by putting blue & green directly to battery terminals and then reverse them to check opposite rotation. As soon as I did that the motor ran perfectly. Reinstalled and now t&t works perfect.

I still think the relays should be replaced but it isn't my job to second guess boss.

Thanks for looking and safe boating ya'll
