I have rebuilt both carbs got new plugs fixed broken wire on coil mice chewed on, spark is real good take it out on the lake hit the throttle and it bogs never to plane again.Gobbles up gas like I own the station and can,t get passed about 2000 rpm .Back at the dock pull the plugs out top two show firing perfect and the bottom two are both wet like they are not firing but there is spark there anything I,m missing here to check by the way coils all four check out as good

check to see if the bottom carbs are flooding, sounds like there might be some debris stopping the float neadles from shutting.there should be a screw top front on those carbs, remove the screw and see if the fuel is pumping out.

thanks polly my guess was the float was leaking in the bottom carb it would make sense it would be a fuel problem but I thought there might be some experts out there that would know of anyother gremlins I should be looking for up to lake this weekend play with it again

dolluper...Check to make sure both throttle plates are coming open at the same time. Did you do a sync and link after the rebuild?

OBJ I did sync the carbs but I was in a hurry to get back on the Lake so I sprayed cleaned them and blew them out instead of letting them soak a couple of hours my mistake this weekend the bottom one is coming off and soaking while I try out some beer also I'm checking the float to see if it really does float and not sink I'm sure this should make it right Thanks for the thoughts I appreciate them I guess I have a big soft spot for Merc's

Don't forget the float setting. With the carb upside down, the float should be level with the gasket surface....just a hair high in front.

Tring out some beer this weekend huh? Ottawa, Canada huh? Got an address?? :D :D
