My control unit started acting up,(single lever), would not start in neutral. So I cut the wire harness and found hot wire, starter wire and electric choke wire so now I start it by touching appropriate wires. What are the other 4 wires for. Are they needed for running or increase of throttle ? thanks for any reply

Right off hand I can't think of a easier or faster way to blow a boat out of the water.

Disconnect the battery, remove and split the control box, then adjust or replace the neutral safety switch. There are no short cuts!

Thank you Joe,I will heed your advice. I will have to search for a unit because the screws in this one rung off. Can drill it out but doubt the unit is worth the troubl. Still courious what the other wires do. They seem to connect with the ignition system on motor. But why would they go to the contlol unit? thanks (p.s. I had cut the wires at the control box, not back near the motor)

Hi, thanks again for the response. I got the control unit apart , fixed it , re-spliced the wires and wrapped them good and it's working. I won't waste your time about the wires. Thanks for keeping me on track. Of course now I have other problems which I will soon be asking about in a new topic. gary

Good for you. You properly corrected the problem rather than going the Mickey Mouse route.
