1975 Evinrude water outlet

On a 1975 Evinrude (15504C) (E0002898) where does the water come out? I do not see a outlet tube anywhere. Does it exit through the exhaust? Also where do you unhook the shift rod so you can remove the lower unit? Thank you for your help...

Some comes out the exhaust, some may come out the two exhaust reliefs. Some engines also discharge from hole right above the anti ventilation plate. The are numerous other places on the midsection where water will spray or drain out too. However there is no telltale on these engines.

The shift linkage disconnect varies depending on the model. Is there an oval shaped cover about halfway down the midsection? The disconnect would be in there.

NO , NO.----Take the 6 bolts out and the lower unit will drop.--Now you can find the coupler for the shift rod at the joint.--Operate the shift lever to get room to take one bolt out of the connector for the shift rod.-----Make sure the notch lines up with the hole before you put the bolt in on re-assembly.

Once I removed the six bolts and the two halves separated a little I see the connector. Thank you, I appreciate your help.
