So I am changing my spark plugs out and I decide to check the water pump (first mistake). I have never done this before. So without a manual (second mistake) I start ripping. I get it apart just fine and the water pump looks fine. So I put it back together. Everything is going quite well until......well you know the screw on the lower unit opposite the drain plug, you know the one that you aren't supposed to remove? Well, you guessed it, I did (final mistake)! Now I can't get it is properly to save my life. It is the pivot screw for the shifter fork. I can get it in but the shifter and prop bind up, so I know it isn't right. I really am a competent backyard mechanic but this has got me stumped. Is there a way to get it in with out having to remove the lowere crankcase? That looks really messy. I really appreciate any help on the matter! Thanks

Hello Robert<br /> Remove the lower unit. Turn it upside down. Remove all the scerws. tap the skeg to loosen it. Carefuly clean it all up, then reassemble it. You always wanted to know what was in there any way. Didn't you? Since you already made a bobo, go ahead and profit from it. A mistake is just an opportunity for a learning expierance. The main thing is to relax and have fun while your doing it. Good luck, let us know if you need more help.
