i bought a 74-76 9.9hp Johnson in really nice shape for cheap because someone had previously screwed around with the armature assembly under the flywheel. the whole thing would move around with the flywheel and spark was present but was holding way too long.
i pulled the flywheel and removed the whole armature assembly and disassembled all of the bushings and plates. It appears I have all of the parts but what I really need is a diagram for the order/orientation of all of the rings and retainers. Does anyone know if there is anything like that kicking around? or is there someone who has mounted all of this previously that knows it off the top of their head?

thanks in advance

Go to evinrudes website and look up the diagram for your motor they have a breakdown for it.

got it running finally. points needed a sanding as well.

just wondering I keep checking the boats.net site to see the breakdown of the electronics and they dont match. Is it supposed to have 1 or 2 coils under the flywheel? there is a definite empty spot on the armature place where another coil can mount. the one coil runs to both points. The rings and bushings also dont match. The ID plate on the transom says it is model QD-21 which comes back to a 1960 10hp. Its 100% a 74-76 9.9 though. I have the serial number on the frost plug from the block, can that tell me anything?

sorry for all the questions I have just never had an issue finding the right diagrams and info on any of the other outboards i have bought.
