I went to the dealer Friday, looking for new rubber mounts for my 1975 Merc 500, I was told that they are no longer available.
Is there an aftermarket source for these? My old mounts have turned to dust, their dryrotted to the point of crumbling. I have three dealers withing driving range, two said not available, the third, (as expected), told me it was too old and I needed to buy a new motor.
I was considering making up something using maybe some shock absorber bushings or maybe just filling the cavity with liquid urethane and moulding my own mounts?
Any suggestions?
(The motor is a very low hours unit that probably has less than 10 hours of running time on it since new. It's still got 145 psi on all 4 cylinders, and looks mint. I can't see replacing it for something so simple?)
With as many of these things as they made, I would think that someone out there makes an aftermarket bushing?
