What is your starting procedure?
Have you checked the compression?

Is quick start using starting fluid? If so only use gas with oil mixed in to ensure lubrication. If it is starting fluid then you must only have an initial starting issue. If it idles OK afterwards, I doubt that it is your carb.

With my '75 9.9 Hp, sometimes I pull the choke and it starts right up first pull and I immediately push in the choke and it runs great. Other times it does the same but I need to pull the choke out 1/2 way for a little longer and push it back in and play with it a little for 1/2 a minute or so. On warm days, even on initial start up, it may not want any choke at all. I believe all this is simply temperature retated combined with a motor that has a fairly low spark voltage.

What is your starting procedure? Have you tried anything to remedy it?
