So i found a boat online that a local
Guy was selling it is a 1975 steury tri hull 17.5 bow rider I believe 150 Johnson on the back and said that it needs deck work. I want to do a boat project so what are some ways of looking at this boat to make sure the hull is sound...im not afraid to tackle anything but don't want to get a boat I'll have to replace the hull. Any tips to see if this would be a worthy resto? Also motor..boat...trailer 800

Check it out thoroughly. Especially underneath. If you see damage Deep gauges and such then that will need attention Before you take it out. IF its a 75 you are probably looking at Deck stringers and transom. so any hull damge you can repair After you remove the floor and stringers. Take your time and do it right. Cost for materials to do floor and transom stringers is 1000-1500. But a little more work and you can have a brand new boat. I picked up my glastron 17' bowrider Knowing what needed to be done You can look at that thread and see how rotted up mine is. Im at a stand still for now until my sist is taken care of in my wrist. It all just matters how much you like the boat and if you think it will be worth it for you. Any used newer boat I have looked at is still pricy. Late 80's boats are still in the 5k range. to me it made more since to spend 350 on a older boat and redo the floor to have a nice boat for under 2k. Cause even a 89 you will be looking at floor or more for the boat.

800 seems to be good considering the motor runs but try to talk him down some.

The motor is worth at least that.
