Here is the problem I am having. It is on a 15.5 foot ranger bass boat. It fires right up off the trailer and idles perfect cruise it out to the open lake never misses a beat. Jumps right up on plane runs perfect up and down the lake at any RPM take it off plane it will jump right back up and run every bit as good as it should. The problem comes when I shut if off. It fires right back up and idles just fine put it in gear and give it throttle and it makes it to half plane and dies with anymore then half throttle. If I keep it at half throttle it will run all day long at 1500 to 2000 and never get up on plane give it more it falls on its face and dies. If I take the throttle and rapidly pump itfrom 1/4 to 1/2 or 3/4 thottle a bunch of times it will finally act like it catches fuel or starts getting fuel and gains rpm jumps up on plane and takes off again. Then idles gets rpm goes on and off of plane repeatedly till I shut if off again. Then the cycle starts all over again.
I have had the carbs apart they were **** and span inside. Cleaned them anyway and still same problem. Changed plugs to L77JC4s it idles and runs better but still same problem. Changed fuel line and primer bulb....no change. Adjusted the cables because the advance was not going back to the stop like it should.....no change. Rebuilt the fuel pump, put hose clamps on the fuel lines under the cowl becuase they were leaking, compression check.....nothing has changed it.
Plugs are a light brown almost look perfect. I just dont know what to try next.
Some questions I have thought of, should I be running a 3/8s fuel line and primer bulb from the tank as it is 5/16s right now? Where do I get molded fuel line elbows to raplace the fuel lines under the cowl? Could the carbs be jetting be wrong? If so what should they be in a 1976 135HP evinrude....I dont think they are because it idles to good and runs to good when it is running right. It has baffled me....I hope you guys might have an answer.
Thanks in advance,
Kris
