I'm at my wit's end here. I did a overhaul on the motor. Everything is back together. Now I'm getting no output from the new coil to the distributor. Cap, rotor, condenser, and contacts are all brand new. Also the coil is getting extremely hot when power is on. I tried bypassing the neutral safety and ran raw power to the coil from the battery as well. I'm at a total loss. Any ideas would be fantastic.

Remove cap and make sure distributor is rotating when engine is cranking
Rotate distributor so the points are open
Disconnect the tachometer wire

Connect a jumper wire to the negative side of the coil.
Place coil wire from coil close to ground or use spark gap tester
Turn key ON
Take jumper wire and strike ground and there should be spark
