1976 35 hp johnson ignition

I have a 35 horse johnson (1976). I just bought it. Motor wont turn over from ignition, but will turn over from starter. I bought a knew after market ignition and it still doesnt turn over. Can u give me the next step. I can touch the battery with the white wire which goes to S on ignition and touch postive on battery and it turns over. My wires are white,blue, red with stripe, purple with stripe, blue with stripe

there should be a fuse(20amp) located next to the stater solenoid, it may have blown.
