1976 40hp evinrude high speed miss

model number 40604R. the first 3 times out this year it would miss at high speed. today it did it again and also when i was returning to the launch it started chugging at around mid throttle. then it would be ok until wot at which point it would miss about every ten seconds. the motor does not rev up it just loses power for a fraction of a second. since then i have checked the compression i has 120 on top and 125 on the bottom. the last time i checked it a few years ago they where both even at 125. i also checked the spark and it jumped about 3/8 of an inch and it was snapping and blue. i cleaned the carb and reset the idle, but i cant test it until next time im out on the lake. just wondered if there is anything else i could do before testing it next weekend.

also when running i pulled off one plug wire at a time and it reacted accordingly.

The problem was i switched flywheels before the start of the season. While reading i saw that the flywheel from the electric start model has 6 magnets and the rope start flywheel has 4 magnets. I also noticed the driver coils have different part numbers, even though they look the same. I switched the driver coils and it runs good again.
