1976 6HP ... where is idle adjustment?

Obviously there is a low speed lean/rich adjustment knob protruding from the front of the casing for fine tuning the mixture at low rpms but, is there no conventional mechanical idle mechanism.

I have a couple of other Johnson's and in addition to the slow speed air/fuel adjustment, they all have some form of mechanical adjustment (my 9.5hp is at the tiller elbow and my 15hp has it on the side of the casing).

Unfortunately, my 6hp runs okay at higher rpms but when I twist the tiller speed handle all the way to the left, the engine speed gets so slow that it stalls. I hate to bother the forums with a trivial question but after searching under the hood, I simply cannot find any way to make a mechanical adjustment to raise my idle speed. DOH!

Not a little screw on the side of carb? My 3HP Tanaka has a screw that just goes into the side of carb and holds the slide up or down just enough to change idle RPM's....there's gotta be something there for idle!...Let us know what you find!;)

You cannot find an idle speed adjustment because there is none on that motor. As you said, turn the grip all the way toward slow, and it stalls. That is by design, since there is no stop button.
