1976 70hp Evinrude

ok, i've been working on my boat lately and i've get everything down but the timeing?

what does this mean?

my boat cranks and runs forever on the hose but i took it to a boat shop and they said i need to get it timed????

how do i know if it's timed or not?
and
how do i do it?
and
does anyone have some videos or know of some that i can watch to get an idea of what to do?

Might try u-tube, they have quite a few videos on outboard repair.
