Need some help adding a telltale to a 1976 evinrude 70hp (70673D). I read the FAQ article here about it, and saw the pictures but none of them seem to be exactly what I need, so I thought I’d try a fresh post.
I’ve scoured the internet for pictures and have not found any that say exactly where to drill the hole. Can someone tell me based on these pictures? The first picture is my engine, the second is from wombat’s article here, but i cant tell how far back it is because of the picture angle. It kind of looks like on my engine that spot would either through or directly in front of the freeze plug (or whatever it is) with the engine number on it. The service bulletin is for an 86-94 engine & that seems to indicate I can put it to the left of that embossed area in front of the starter wire, but not sure if that holds for a 1976. Thanks in advance. I wouldn’t have thought this info for my particular old engine would have been so hard to find.
