Greetings all. I just recently acquired a pretty awesome 1976 Apollo Tri Star 17' with the Mercruiser 165. I have looked in every nook and cranny and cannot for the life of me find the fuse box/panel. Does it just not have one? It is a pretty simple system but there are some upgrades I'd like to do and I'd prefer tapping into the fuse box vs a bunch of hard wired in-line fuses. Thanks.

keep in mind it may not be a fuse block in the traditional sense that you are thinking of. it may be panel mounted circuit breakers, or glass fuse holders

I've looked for in line fuses, checked every inch of the wires ran from the battery to the dash, everything I can think of. I'm rather mechanical and have always worked on my own stuff, at least til we got newer vehicles. I have a pretty good grasp on mechanical and electrical trouble shooting on land vehicles. I can't imagine boats are much different. I've never seen a vehicle of that era without some form of fuse box.

welcome to boats.

my 84 Avanti had 2 fuses in the dash for most of the systems, a circuit breaker back by the motor

the old 74 mirro craft that the family had was in-line fuses back by the battery.

the factory manual for your motor will show the wiring harness and the fuses for the gauge/ignition/etc.

the remainder is up to the boat builder.
