Hello all! Hoping to find a chrysler expert or two. I just purchased a low-hour1976 chrysler 105 that has been sitting for a few years. Seller told me it ran great for him until he replaced it wtih a bigger/newer johnson motor.

Anyway, I put the motor on the stand and ran a compression test. I was pretty amazed at the 165psi readings on the top two cylinders. Bottom two cylinders were 155 and then 145 on the very bottom cyl. A bit uneven, but with those high readings I don't think I need to be too concerned.

My first question is regarding a miss that it has in the lower rpm range. It seems to really rev nice when you hit the throttle, but at idle you can hear one or two cylinders cutting in and out. I have new plugs in it and good spark when checking with plug out of cylinder, but am stumped on the miss. Could the magantron II be failing?

Also, having carb problems. I am getting fuel pouring out of the weep hole on the tillotson carbs after running for a few minutes. I have cleaned the carbs... and the floats and needle valves are clean and look fine. It is almost like the fuel pump is pumping too much fuel and/or too high pressure for the the float and needle to shut off the flow. I have cleaned/rebuilt hundreds of carbs and have never had this problem. Also, I don't want to adjust anything on the float flange since the owner had no issues in the past with the carbs. Anyone experience anything similar and have a solution?

Thanks!

Your miss is probably a carb problem.First check the pump diaphram.
Then check the reeds.J
