I have a 1976 Evinrude 115 hp on my boat. I ran it the other day on muffs. I noticed that water squirts out where the lower unit bolts on. Not a lot but some, it pumps water just fine where it is supposed to also.So is this normal? Or is something wrong?? Motor runs fine and does not overheat.

Normal operation, you just never see it when the boat is in the water.

Your engine does not have the advantage of a overboard indicator (called the telltale) Came out in 1978 when OMC went to the dual thermostat arrangement. Your engine does have a type of indicator, albeit somewhat hard to discern. Start your engine when it's cold. As soon as it starts, hold the palm of your hand back by the two exhaust relief ports at the top of the midsection. After maybe a minute, the vernatherm (thermostat) on the engine will heat up and open. When that happens, water droplets will start to form on the palm of your hand, indicating water is flowing through the powerhead. That's normal and maybe even visible, once you know what to look for.
