I have a 1976 Evinrude 35hp outboard it is getting fuel to the cylindars but it is not firing, this is a used motor I purchased as is and the guy I bought it from said it had ran fine last fishing season. Several people have said it is possibly the points and condenser please advise.

All it needs to run is

Fuel (you say it's go that)

Compression (easy enough to check with a tester)

Ignition (I believe they have points and condensers under the flywheel)If it has electronic ignition it can be a bit more tough to service for a novice.

and spark (at the right time during the compression) While you have the flywheel off checking the points, make sure the flywheel key is OK.

THANKS FOR THE TIP, IT DOES HAVE POINTS. THE PROBLEM WAS THE SPARK PLUGS, I CHANGED THEM BEFORE INSTALLING NEW POINTS, AND CONDENSOR AND JUST TRIED IT TO SEE IF IT SOUNDED DIFFERENT IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY AND RAN PERFECTLY. THE PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS STARTING IT BACK UP IT TAKES A WHILE.
