Is it possible something got left off when you changed cables or accidently shorted and you popped the main fuse which is located on the port side of the cylinder head towards the top (cyl #1)?

Never hurts to recheck what was just done especially when a problem like this crops up...

Good luck,

i assume the engine is turning over. the unplug the big red connector. now jump from the incoming positive post on the solenoid, to the small post next to it. some times the small connectors are wired opposite, if it does not turn over, jump to the other small post. unpluging the harness, takes the controller out of the equation.

here are some other test: http://www.boatpartstore.com/page29.asp
