1976 Evinrude 70hp

Just purchased a 1976 starcraft in really sweet shape with a 70 hp evinrude. The motor has 125 lbs compression on all three is this good ?I would think so but just wanted to check. The motor fired up and idled fine.<br />Also the motor has a temp gauge about what temp should it run after heated up it shows 175 starting the red line I would presume it should run around 140 but I'm quessing. thanks for any info

125 psi is great.<br /><br />175 is too high. It should be around 140-145.<br /><br />When was the last time the water pump was serviced? If you're not sure, replace the entire kit with an OEM kit.
