Are you trimming the motor out at all? I believe you could be too low in the bow causing bow steer and it will fall off to one side or the other, when going faster you want it to sit more on the flatter stern part of the boat. Try trimming the motor up as you go faster.
Thanks never thought of trimming the motor it is planeing very fast could be the motor is in the botton hole because-----The inline wont start when motor is tiped forward. The mercury mech told me the 1150 has been that way since day one. Still have to spray it with mix fuel at times anyway. Thats sure a bummer since i like the way it runs better than any motor i ever had. I should mention the trim tab has to be all the way to the right in order to steer half decent. No whales tail on it.
Hard to believe this start problem can't be solved.I'm pretty sure this is a straight forward choke type set up.If you go to Johns Old Mercury Web site.
There should be plenty of help and links.
Trim out and let us know what happens.
trim out with all the way down, it's pushing the nose down. move it out 1 hole at a time..my 1350 was hard to start, when cold, pump the blub till hard then really lean on it one more pump. they are gas hungry beast when cold.
You guys are great, been reading your help posts now for a long time. I got the courage to ask you some questions the other day and really enjoyed your help. I will try all your ideas as soon as i get back to the lake, its 140 miles one way for me dont you see. Living in AZ has its draw backs when boating. Thanks again for your input.
